'My Computer' takes a minute to start

This started happening about 2 weeks ago.

When I click 'My Computer' the computer takes
a very long time to display the drives, over 2 minutes.
After that, directory and file display is very quick.

What's the cause and how do I fix it?

(Windows XP Pro, 1GB RAM, plenty of free space)
