My COMPUTER or file Explorer very slow to show files |
| message from =?Utf-8?B?R2VyYXJk?= on 5 Jun 2004 |
Clicking on MY COMPUTER takes minutes before all the files are displayed. This is particularly after restarting the computer. Once the files are displayed there doesn't appear to be a problem, but the first time after restarting is extremely slow. The system displays a torchlight as it searches for all the files.
Is there a setting that can change this in XP Home?

Could be time to do a disk clean up. Once you get My Computer opened, right-click the
hard drive icon, properties, disk cleanup. It will take awhile to populate.

Whilst it wouldn't hurt to follow Mary's advice, it won't solve your
problem. Click Start > Run > type 'msconfig' (no quotes) > click the
services tab and uncheck 'Windows Image Acquisition'. OK out. Reboot and
problem solved.
