me too! I installed a awindows update and ran ad-aware to remove sprware etc and on boot up it looped as you describe. Booting in Safe mode, with or without network support didn't change it. Booting from 'last known good' setting made no difference either. Makes no difference which user is tried or pressing alt-tab at the login screen or cntrl-alt-delete. Glad I am not alone.... please help somone!

I have the exact same problem too & it's driving me crazy. Tried sfc /scannow and it wouldn't initiate. Has anyone found a solution yet??
