Lost Excel Documents |
| message from =?Utf-8?B?Qm9ic3RhcjUz?= on 7 Jun 2004 |
I opened an Excel document intending to save under a new name and make changes. However, I made changes and saved under existing name therefore overwriting all records. Can I recover this file as it was before I made changes? Please email me as I am new to all of this.

Hi,
If you overwrote the file, then you cannot recover the former file.

Altough Roger is correct in what he says but it is just possible if you are using Norton Systems Works which protects documents. So if you are using Norton systems works on your system then on the Desktop there is a first item called Recycle Bin (or Norton Protected Bin).
Just right click on it and select Explore. You wll then be able to retrieve the old document before changes from here. If you are not using Norton Systems works then tough luck. Hard disk Recovery people can retrieve the documents but it will cost you an arm and a leg to
do this. They normally use such techniques to catch people visiting undesireable sites which you and me (the tax payers) pays for all their investigation work.
