Is it OK to delete thise folders? |
| message from SH on 03 Jun 2004 |
Hi,
using XP Pro SP1,
In my"c:\windows" directory there are quite a few folders named something
similar to:
" C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB821253$ "
Question: Is it OK to get rid of these folders?

It is if you never intend on uninstalling the hotfixes.

those folders hold hotfix (ie windows update) uninstall info; they can be
very large.
there is a util out there that will remove these uninstall files for you,
as well as fix up the add/remove list (and the registry) so they are no
longer losted. I'd advise you get that tool rather than deleting the
folders by hand.

Most people can use this safely, as most will never want to uninstall the
hotfixes.
