INSTALLING SOFTWARE - PROBLEM

message from =?Utf-8?B?QmFsZGVhZ2xlODEy?= on 11 Jun 2004
I have been attempting to install an application on my PC, it's a microsoft CBT for W2k Networking exam 70-216, the first splash screen comes up but when I click on the install package, nothing happens. Looking in Task Manager the Setup is running, albeit not doing anything, and remains in this state until I kill it or shut the pc down.

I have run services msc, disabled the windows install, reboot, cleaned out the temp folders, rebooted, enamled the windows installer and rebooted then tried again, to no avail.

I have tried the compatibility setting, again to no effect.

I have installed this package on a different pc using Windpws XP Pro, which is on my machine and it works right away.

Anyone got any ideas before I take the drastic meansure of rebuilding my pc

Baldeagle812, I notice you didn't mention disabling your virus program. On WinXP you have to disable it then reboot, install and run again. It worked for me.
