IE 6 and XP

Whenever one of my users goes to a website that contains a link to a PDF
file and clicks ONCE the file should display in Acrobat Reader, instead he
only gets the dreaded box with the 'X' (red).

I know I have seen this but just can't seem to remember. I looked on the KB
but found nothing that would help. Any ideas??
