INCD problems

message from William Babcock on 7 Jun 2004
I have been using INCD 4 from Ahead Nero. The biggest problem is that I have
to reformat the CD-RW very often because something won't write or get errors
message. Sometimes it will only last two weeks and have to reformat the
CD-RW again. This gets very frustrating because I have to spend so much time
to copy all the files again. There are times that CD-RW just read without
stopping and only way for me to do that is to reboot the computer without
properly shutting down. I have to throw away this CD when it does that. I
had to throw this one away when I had it for 6 weeks. Do anyone know any
other kinds of software to format CD-RW that works good? Please let me know.
I spent lots of money throwing away CD-RW due to that problem. If there is
another software that works, I certainly won't use Ahead Nero INCD again.

Sometimes this is caused by the poor writing capabilities of the drive you
are using. I have found that if you write to a CDRW and then read it in some
CD-ROM drives or DVD drives, it seems to mess with the soft surface of the
CDRW disk. Also if you abort a write it can also do the same. Since I
changed my CDRW drive I haven't had these problems. Of course it could be
that your CDRW disk is near the end of its life, especially if you have used
it for a number of years or even a lot. I find using compactflash cards for
data transfer much easier and less volatile. All XP computers with USB can
read the drive units as a separate drive so it makes sense to get yourself a
512Mb card and wave godbye to the CDRW - unless of course you are using it
for music or for non XP computers.

Don't throw the CDs away.
Reboot and try to read them again.

I have never had any problems with InCD. I'm using version 3.5, I haven't
bothered to get the latest version out of laziness. You shouldn't have to
reformat the disk just because something won't write to it. I have a couple
of disks I use for backups and I have written to them dozens of times and
erased some files, too. They are perfect and work every time. Even through
a format and install of XP recently. I just installed my older version of
InCD and then upgraded with a backup disk holding version 3.5. Have you
uninstalled InCD and then reinstalled it?

Version 3.5 did not have this problem. Version 4.100 DID have this problem!

I am using version 4.241 that I downloaded and updated from the www.nero.com
site and I stopped having problems.

Download the update and install from this web page
http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up.php

Tell me if this solves your issue
