How do I get rid of When U Save Pop-ups? |
| message from =?Utf-8?B?bmljIGRpZ2J5?= on 7 Jun 2004 |
I have been getting constant "When U save" pop ups for a week, despite my pop-up stoppers. Have finally found out that it is 'mandatory' as part of two programmes I supposedly loaded (except I didn't). I have found one - "Clocksync" - and have uninstalled it. I CAN'T FIND THE OTHER SO CAN'T GET RID OF WHEN U SAVE!!! arrghhh! Apparently it's "Purityscan". I have clicked on "Remove or add programmes" in "My Computer" but Purityscan doesn't appear there....how can I find it to uninstall it to rid myself of these dreadful ads? many thanks

Greetings --
To deal with issues caused by any sort of "adware" and/or
"spyware,"such as Gator, Comet Cursors, Smiley Central, Xupiter,
Bonzai Buddy, or KaZaA, and their remnants, that you've deliberately
(but without understanding the consequences) installed, two products
that are quite effective (at finding and removing this type of
scumware) are Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search &
Destroy from www.safer-networking.org/. Both have free versions.
It's even possible to use SpyBot Search & Destroy to "immunize" your
system against most future intrusions. I use both and generally
perform manual scans every week or so to clean out cookies, etc.
Additionally, manual removal instructions for the most common
varieties of scumware are available here:
