HELP

Alright, about a month ago i got a windows update and i
installed it like i always do, i had to restart my
computer like always, however, when the comp booted up,
my computer rebooted with another desktop background and
many of my icons were missing. Also, i lost all of my
previous settings as they converted back to what the
defaults were. The "take a tour of XP" window popped up
like i had never used XP before. All of my saved games
will not load and are not even recognized by the game
itself, but all the files are still on the hard drive. I
honestly do not have a clue what to do, because everytime
i restart it does the same thing. I have norton
antivirus and have dl the most recent version and have
scanned my comp with it, and it comes back clean. I have
tried system restore but that doesnt work, i get an error
saying it couldnt restore the computer. So if anybody
can help that would be great.
