Editing Registry

whenever i try to edit one of the REG_BINARY files in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Unimodem\DeviceSpecific\ModemName\Responses on the Registry editor, it locks up completly.....what should i do?
