Dreaded "boot disk failure" message |
| message from Synonymous on 31 May 2004 |
In the middle of an online game of Zuma, my computer made a couple odd
clacking noises and suddenly crashed. I get that "disk boot failure, insert
system disk and press enter" message. That disk, due to a long story, is at
another house (I am pathetic, thanks), but when I use Knoppix to try to
salvage my files, it won't recognize any hard drive partitions.
The data on there that wasn't backed up is lost for good, isn't it? I'm
pretty much screwed here, right? There was some stuff that, while
nonessential, certainly would've been nice to have around; is there any
operation I can do to extract the stuff?
Thanks for putting up with me.
