Downloading problems |
| message from =?Utf-8?B?SmVmZmFuZEplbm4=?= on 10 Jun 2004 |
We are running XP Pro and am having problems downloading anything. We get an error message saying "IE was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." Can anyone help? Is this a virus gone mad or is this some sort of security setting or a needed update. We just recently could download from windows update, before we couldn't. Can someone please help?
Thanks, Jeff and Jenn

Hi,
Go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
and find the "HOSTS" file. It's the one that's bigger than 1 k. Make a
copy of it for backup. Double click it to bring up the "Open With.."
window. Choose notepad to open it, then delete every line except
"127.0.0.1 localhost". Save it.
Hope this helps.
