DOS Client Networking Issue |
| message from Just Me on 2 Jun 2004 |
I currently have running an older WinXP machine acting as a file server for
2 DOS based point of sale cash register systems. Everything is operating
fine with the old server except for speed.
I brought a new server online to replace the older server and am having some
issue with networking. Anyone have an idea that can help me find the prob?
Here's the scenario:
Server0 is the soon to be retired server
Server1 is the replacement server
Both running WinXP Pro
Register 1 is DOS running MS DOS Networking client and server
Register 2 is DOS running MS DOS Networking client
Using the net command, I can see both servers.
I can connect to Server0, and see all shares
I can not connect to Server1, even though I can see it.
Error 53 is displayed whenever I try to connect to Server1
I can connect to Server1 from Server0, transfer files, and use remote
desktop without any prob.
The prob is when I try to access Server1 from the DOS machines. No go.
Simple as that. Even though I can clearly see them on the network.
I have given Register1 full admin rights on Server1. I have shared the root
of c to the world. No matter what, I can not connect from either of my DOS
based systems to Server1. No prob connecting into Server0. Both machines are
set exactly the same - or so I think. Am I missing something here???
Thanks.
