DivX missing |

I downloaded a patch for DivX recently, but then went to look for the product.Nowhere to be found. Cant remember having seen it. Now when I try to install off a video camera CD, the folder appears in Program Files, empty, and whenthe sys is rebooted, they disappear. How can I get DivX? What is wrong.
Tis a puzzlement.
