Computer keeps shutting down! |
| message from =?Utf-8?B?RXJpYw==?= on 10 Jun 2004 |
Hey, I've heard this is an old and easy-to-fix problem, so hopefully someone can help.
On my own personal computer, I connect to the internet via modem. But I just installed XP Pro on it and every time I connect, about two minutes into my internet session, I receive a warning telling me my computer is going to shut down in a minute.
Not surprisingly, a moment later, my computer turns off. I was told that there is a patch I can download, so I had it sent to me.
I tried installing the patch, but a warning comes up saying I need ANOTHER new download from Microsoft. I can download this thing because my computer won't stay connected long enough to download it.
Is there a way I can download this thing so that I can put it on a floppy disc and transport it to my computer?
Thank you

After booting and after you receive the shutdown message , go to run and
type shutdown -a and press ok . this will stop the shutdown or this session.
Run a updated virus scan to remove the virus / worm . The MS patch will help
stop it from returning , but not if you have it now. It you do not have the
firewall turn on , turn it on before you connect to the web again. Jym
