Cannot delete folder ? |
| message from Andy100 on 5 Jun 2004 |
I have a folder within a folder. The folder had music files in it. I deleted
the music files (put them onto CDR) and so i was left with 1 folder inside
another (no files in either folder).
When i tried to delete the folder (which had another empty folder in it)
WinXP said "Cannot delete 'music' the directory is not empty". It IS empty
(or appears to be). Even if it wasn't empty, i should still be able to
delete it if i chose to do so. I switched on 'view all system files', still
nothing in that folder. I rebooted into safe mode. Still couldn't delete it
(same error).
How can i get rid of it. It had 0 bytes in size so there shouldn't be any
reason why i cannot delete it. It's just annoying !!
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,
Open a command prompt (Start > Run > cmd)
navigate to the parent folder using the command cd, cd..
Open task manager by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del, go to the first tab
and kill explorer.exe
In the command prompt window, type
rd folder_name /s
Then open a new task in task manager --> Explorer.exe
Good luck
