CD-RW read problems |

I am running XP Home on a Sotec 820P laptop. My combo DVD/CD-RW will not read disks that were burned on it. It reads purchased audio and software CD's fine but no burned disks. The recording function doesn't work either. I suspected the problem was a bad driver, so I reinstalled all the software to factory settings with the Recovery Disks furnished with the computer. That did not resolve the problem. This has to be a software issue otherwise the CD-RW would not function at all. The computer has been in service for 18 months and I experienced no difficulties with the CD-RW until this problem surfaced. Any suggestions?
