I have recently bought a new pc and am running windows XP. I have now bought a UMAX ultraslim SE scanner and when i tried to install it using the dick provided ..... i tried to use it and it says that it cant operate and that there is a twain error - not sure what this means or what i should do about it?? I also tried uninstalling it and seeing if Xp would detect it as it says 'hot plug and play' in the description .... but windows Xp doesnt tell me that its even found any new hardware ..... HELP!?!?

Odd. I went to www.umax.com (chose USA) and found nothing that I would
call an ultraslim model (and a search there on "ultraslim" turned up
nothing). Ultraslim, to me, means something like the Canon model at
http://snipurl.com/70lx which is only 1.5" high and can fit inside a
center desk drawer.

Is this an old Umax scanner (where ultrathin meant anything less than 6
inches thick, maybe)? We had an old Umax Vista S12 scanner that could
not be used under Windows 2000/XP simply because Umax refused to write a
driver for it (which was only available as an included component in
their VistaScan software). So we now have it hooked up to an old
Windows 98 box.

Hi

Disconnect the scanner, then try to install the software. You will notified
during the setup when to re-connect the scanner.
