CD Backup |
| message from joseph musolino on 4 Jun 2004 |
I just upgraded to Quicken 2004 Deluxe (Release 3). I'm trying to backup a
data file to my CD/RW using quicken's backup command. It will not back up
directly to the CD according to the Quicken support site. I was able to do
this regularly with the 2003 (Release 3 also) version. I have an IBM
Thinkpad A31p running XP pro. The quicken support site says it has to be
done using the Windows CD writing wizard. I can't find such a wizard. I do
have IBM's proprietary DLA (drive letter access) which allows direct writing
to various media. I can't configure it to write directly however. I'm
thoroughly confused. Does anyone have any suggestions? thanks

In Windows Explorer, right-click the CD drive letter, choose PROPERTIES,
click the RECORD tab and enable recording. If there is no RECORD tab,
then it's conceivable that other software is in conflict with the native
XP burning utility.
START|RUN, type...
services.msc
Look for the IMAPI CD item. Double-click it, click the arrow to the right
of the Start Up box and choose AUTOMATIC, if not so already.
In normal operation you drag files to the CD drive letter. A balloon
should appear with "files are ready to be written to the CD" ... and from
that point the wizard should guide the process.
