Blaster Virus?

message from Stu Katz on 8 Jun 2004
Hi,

Someone brought a computer to me to repair. This person had done NO updates
of either windows nor their anti-virus. So I updated the Antivirus and
after I re-booted I got a virus alert for the Blaster virus.

Then I tried to do some windows updates but It wouldn't allow me, finally in
the end I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled the O/S. Once again I
did the necessary updates on both the Microsoft and Norton sites, but now
everytime I shut down the PC, it never shuts down. The hard drive will stop
turning for about 2 seconds and then the system will re-start.

The wire connections seem to be alright, its not as if its the first time I
put a PC together could it be that the blaster virus wasn't removed? I know
the constant re-booting is a symtom of the virus.

Any help would be appreciated

TIA

Try looking into wiping-out the hard drive. (Permanently erase all data.)
