Backup error 80042301 (again)

I am using Window XP Home Edition 5.1.2600 with Service Pack 1.0, with
the NTFS file system and the manually installed backup utility. I get
this error message report when trying to backup my computer's system
state:

" Backup Status
Operation: Backup
Active backup destination: File
Media name: "backup.bkf created 6/12/2004 at 12:09 PM"

Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:80042301
Aborting Backup.
