I forgot to add(in case you didn't know)...If you do get a vertical arrow at the bottom, hold down the left mouse button, and drag task bar back up...then, right click on the task bar, and check "Lock the taskbar"...all this assuming that this is what is wrong. Let us know. ... (more) |

My problem is that IE6 (and OE6 as well) are using the wrong paper size for printing, unless I manually reset it every time I print. Both programs are using paper size A4 (a British size) which is longer than 11" and therefore the footer (web address) does not print. ... (more) |

| Thanks for the suggestion. AMD support also suggested the memory as the source of the problems. But why doesn't Memtest show a problem? I'll try another stick. I bought the Apacer 2700 at a very reasonable price. I had heard very good things about Apacer pc2100 memory, but since have found out that Apacer's 2700 is not as good. When Windows XP Professional SP1 starts up, it pauses at the blue welcome screen for about 40 seconds, and then continues without any problems. During the 40 second pause there is no disk activity. I recently went on an internet website for greeting cards, & lo & behold I am being bombarded with pop-ups, spam, & especially this "Allaboutsearching" which appears at the bottom of my screen after I open up MS Internet Explorer. Is this something that can be eliminated easily? I am relatively new to MS WinXP. Also, I am receiving pop-ups when I am in my email. | I cannot use system backup... I try to save all my files to a dvd and it says it is an invalid path and the computer hangs up. It will work with a floppy but it would take a thousand floppy disks to save all my files. The reason I want to copy all my files is that I want to partition my hard drive again. Nope. Tried removing the CD - the screen tells me it is missing the disk and to CTL-ALT-DEL. I also tried all three format options - Quick, full, and use existing. Setup just keeps on booting and restarting itself. Could it be a bad CD? Or how about the HD? I used the Seagate Data Lifeguard CD to partition the drive, as they instructed, prior to installing XP. Couple of days ago, a worm called sesser entered to my compter and I fixed it with regedit and console commands.. And also I downloaded the win patch form this worm to be sure and so, i fixed it. Its dead! When I get promted to logon, I do, then windows starts, and then 2 seconds later, it stops again, and I am returned to the logon screen. I have tried to configure boot settings to run the CD-rom first and reinstall/ repair from the XP CD, but it does not boot the CD, it goes directly to the logon page and starts over.
