Wizard help? (by =?Utf-8?B?bWFieW4=?= on 27 May 2004, 5 replies)
I created a Contacts Database with one of the wizards. Then, I went to the Contacts form and switched it to "database". Line by line, I have been cut and pasting info from an Excel file that is "way wacko out of order from this wizard database" and placing it individually in each cell. I didn't do all of the info because I wanted, of course to make sure it worked. Well, the information winds up in a nice table once saved however, when I exit the program and re-enter the info is not showing up under the database form Contacts. Is there a way to link it back? If so, can you direct me? I was trying to short cut the entry because there is so much to enter. Thanks for the assistance. ... (more)

New to Access (by =?Utf-8?B?RG9ubmll?= on 28 May 2004, 4 replies)
Hey all.I am building a dispatch database project in Access, that will hold all of our customer records, their dispatch history, their HVAC equipment information, etc... Basically, it is going to be a large relational database with probably four or five tables. We know what we want it to do, its just up to me to get it designed and functional. My problem has been that I cannot find any good information on building the type of database that I want to build. The books that I have dont really go too in depth about designing forms that will be able to have sort of dynamic queries. For example, I want to have a field on one of the forms where you could enter a customers name, address, or phone number, and then do a search to retrieve that customers dispatch history and equipment information. I also need to find a way to e able to enter a dispatch into a form, and have that information go into that customers dispatch history, as well as display the dispatch on a schedule board for the technician that will be doing the service call. These are only a few of the problems that I have not been able to find info about. I know what we are trying to do is possible with Access. Can anyone point me to a good source of online information, tutorials, etc? Also, is there a really good sort of all in one "teach Yourself Access" book? Like a Sam's book? Thanks for your time. Donnie ... (more)

I am trying to export a database to a .txt file. I want to be able to specificy the delimeter but I'm unable to because the export wizard never appears. No Security level tab (by =?Utf-8?B?Unlhbg==?= on 28 May 2004, 5 replies)
After updating to Office 2003, the Access databases started opening giving a message about 'this file may not be secure. Are you SURE you want to open it?' These messages are unwanted and unneeded. I searched the help, and found that by changing the security level to 'low' it might prevent these messages. However, on the Security menu, there is no 'Security level tab' seen. I went through the process of adding the 'Security' to the menu, but in it there's no sign of a security level tab, so there's no obvious way to fix the bug (another Microsoft bug) without going into the registry. I am interested in learning if there is another way to fix this problem. Most of the other messages here regarding this problem have not had the problem of no 'security level tab'. Any ideas (other than going backwards and re-installing the older but less bug-infested version of Microsoft Office)? ... (more)
