| Data Access Page and Timer event (by =?Utf-8?B?cGRt?= on 18 May 2004, no replies) |
|---|
|
Hi, Would anyone know any way to simulate a timer event in a data access page? For the Access part of an app theres a hidden form on a timer that kicks out the users when tripped (and sends them to a nice HTML maintenance message) -standard stuff. I put a script in a Data access page to do the same but it has to wait for the users to refresh it - could not find a timer event and expecting not to. This wasn't going to be an issue but the page locks the b/e even though it's R/O - so no maintenance. Been clearing these with net file /close (I feel your cringe). Any solution like setting an ODBC refresh or that will retrigger a BeforeInitialBind, or something like that? (It has to be set in the page or connection file, not on the client). Has anyone found some way to do this? Thanks for your input - I'll put a credit in for your solution. - Peter P.S. Need a 'Data Access Page' forum in the pantheon. ... (more) |
| query assembly components (by =?Utf-8?B?TWlrZTI3?= on 18 May 2004, 1 reply) |

I have a parts database which relates bottom level parts to master assemblies as well as to every subassembly up the pyramid including the master assembly at the top. This allows me to find correct part numbers by searching, for example, the name of an assembly and the common name of a part. All this linking is very labor intensive because each bottom level part has to be linked to so many assemblies. I want to be able to link the bottom level part only to the first subassembly that it belongs to, then link that sub assembly to the next subassembly up the pyramid until the last sub assembly is linked to the top master assembly. The relationships in the database are set up to link this way, but I can't picture how to set up a query if there will be no direct link from the bottom level part to the top assembly. Can Access do this & if so, what is the correct method? Thanks ... (more) |
