access 2002 hyperlinks search and replace not updating target

message from richard walton on 5 May 2004
Since upgrade to XP and Access 2002, hyperlinks are not
working as before in Access. Old established table of
hyperlinks work just fine in search and replace in order
to update new date for displayed link, and target. But,
If I create a new table of links, or edit the old one,
when I then do a search and replace to update the new name
of the link, it only will update the displayed text name.
It leaves the link target as it was. This means I have to
go in manually and update the target to the link. This
sort of defeats the purpose of the search and replace, if
it only will update the displayed text and not the target.
ANy ideas appreciated.

Fix has been found. After editing the actual link in
question, Access now seems to insert link information to
the existing link. Before, the link information is in-
between #'s, like this - #link# . After editing the
link, more link information appears, like this-
link#link# . If that extra information is deleted, then
the hyperlink can again be updated using search and
replace, and it then will update the target along with the
display text. Not sure why that is. Some default setting
must have been changed between 97-2000 and 2002.

name
to
target.
