Using Wildcard Characters When Importing Text Files

You do not have access to the folder 'path\*.*. See your
administrator for access to this folder.

KB article 291240 describes the problem that occurs when
I use wildcard characters while trying to import text
files with Acc97 on an XP machine. The article doesn't
provide a solution and says I need to contact MS for a
fix. Does anyone know of the fix for this so I don't have
to jump through a million hoops?

Any help will be much appreciated.
