| message from big on 2 Jun 2004 |
Hello
I'm working with ACCESS97. In tools menu I have not SQL
SERVER migration wizard. Is it natural ? How to install
it ? If it is not possible ( only available in ACCESS
2000 ) then how to migrate to SQL SERVER ?
Many thanks before.

The DTS tools in sql server do not a bad job.
There was/is a download for the access97 wizard. I would just run the
database splitter to get pull out all the tables into a separate mdb. Then
use the import options for sql server (the DTS). Then, just re-link the
tables in your front end to the tables on the sql server.
The up-sizing wizard from way back then did not really do much more then the
above anyway.
I would also go to the office home page, and check out the downloads
section, since the upsizing wizard for a97 was there somewhere last time I
looked.....
Another possible solution is to simply upgrade the ms-access file to a newer
version of access with better sql upsizing tools (this likey depends on what
tools and versions you have avaiable).
