Does anyone know if there is an updated version of Stan Leszynski's Access
97 Expert Solutions out there anywhere?

No, I do not know.

I hear that there is not to be an Access 2003 edition of _Access
<versionnumber> Developer's Handbook_, by Litwin, Getz, et al, published by
Sybex, but the 2002 edition will cover just about everything in 2003 (there
were not many changes of any consequence). That is the consensus choice of
the Access developer community.

I also like Rick Dobson's "Programming Microsoft Access <version>" from
Microsoft Press. It is especially strong for learning ActiveX Data Objects
I/O, and the Access Project, if you need to do those things. It has strong
emphasis on client-server with Access and SQL Server.

"Covers everything" is a pretty stringent requirement. The two books I quote
above are for Intermediate to Advanced users, and don't dwell on "the
basics".

A book with much coverage for different levels of user, and different depths
of use, is "Microsoft Access 2003 Inside Out" by John Viescas, published by
Microsoft Press.
