Calendar Web App w/ Access?

Hi,

I need to make a website that has a calendar page which stores data on a MS
SQL database.
I've been told that Access would be useful for this (with or without MS
Exchange), but I'm
confused as to how this is true.

Would Access be useful for such a purpose?
