Access 97 Conversion to 2002

The 97 version of my database works perfectly, but when
converted to 2000 or 2002, after using a dropdown box
to "goto" a different record, I get the message "Microsoft
Access has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience." and the program closes.
What can explain this consistent problem in 2000/2002?
I'd appreciate any helpful suggestions. Thanks.
