stop the tag closer

Is there a way for dreamweaver to stop automatically stopping tags
e.g. I type in <center> and after I put the closing carrot, it puts </center> after it... How do I stop it from doing that?

Preferences>Code Hints>Enable auto tag completion. Make sure it is
unchecked.
