site map ignores flashbutton object's links

message from rec-dx on 22 Jul 2004
I've used flashbutton (swf) objects as navigational buttons, and the links are
working. But: The site map does not show the htm pages that are linked. Does
anybody out there know how to make those links embedded in swfs show up on the
Dreamweaver site map?

Thanks...

Of course. So does Dreamweaver's file management, and search engines.
That's why it's a big mistake to use a Flash button as a navigation element
without also providing a plain HTML equivalent.

It is ignored because the link is embedded in the Flash actionscript.

Thanks. If there are are any more
Dreamweaver-neophyte-junior-member-non-techgeeks like me lurking, that will
mean that there are at least two of us who would appreciate some advice on how
to provide (without creating a separate duplicate hyperlinked image) a plain
HTML equivalent to accompany the flashbutton object .

And please bear with us newcomers. The future of web design is in our hands.

You either make a secondary navigation element, e.g.,

Home | About | Products | Services | Downloads | Uploads | Presidential
Citations | Contact | Links

and put it on the bottom of each page with corresponding links (you can use
a Library item for that so you don't have to tediously change it on each
page to maintain the links, or you could use Templates or Server-side
includes, but that's another post), OR, you could add a single link, e.g.,

Site Map

to a page that contains an HTML link to every other page in your site.
