how would you make a form so as soon as the person clicks submit there name is placed at the bottom of a list of names on the other page..

Er, this sounds very like a guestbook script, you might for instance
look at ours at:
http://nms-cgi.sf.net/scripts.shtml
of course you might mean something completely different.

The form submits the name to a database from which the other page draws its
content.
