hex colors do not match between Dreamweaver and p

message from Scott Sosebee on 21 Jul 2004
Jpgd I'm making in photoshop are not matching the background color I'm setting in Dreamweaver, even though the hex codes say they are the same. Help???

Also, eliminate any trace of color management from your workflow.

In addition to what Murray and James said, even if you use GIFs with the
exact same colors, depending on your video card, you may still see a
difference between foreground and background colors (I think this was an
issue at the OS rendering level, but it's been a while since I've really
worried about it...)

It's an issue with 16-bit graphic displays. There used to be, and may
still be, a tech note at the Macromedia web site about this. Please
don't ask me to try and find it.

The never will, either, simply because of the lossy JPG compression
algorithm. Try using a GIF instead, or use a piece of the jpg as a tiling
background color rather than the HTML color.
