doctype giving me a pain when using inline style

message from two can's on 22 Jul 2004
Hi yea,
My Page is set to
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"

but I find when I have the html below with the style in it , that the style
doesnt work, it is only when I remove the doctype does it work, any one know
why. I use IE6, and MX2004.

<textarea name="yourFieldNameHere" style="width:500; height:150">
