browser deleting a line of code? |
| message from dodemonster on 18 Jul 2004 |
I'm using dreamweaver MX (not 2004) and webdrive ftp client. In my site I used
templates and library items. When I preview the site in IE and Netscape (latest
versions) it looks great and all the code is there. After I ftp it up using
webdrive, again viewing it from the webdrive window-it looks great and all the
code is there. I close all my programs, view it live on Netscape and IE and
suddenly my main banner doesn't show up. When I view the source code an entire
line has been deleted. weird. I delete everything off the server and try again
and the same thing happens. weird. The line that disappears is this: img
name="banner" src="Library/banner.gif" width ="543" height="79" border="0" (I
took out the end symbols so it would appear in the message.)
The line of code disappears. I have other images that are called for just
like this and they are fine. The image is where it is supposed to be, I've
checked paths and they are all correct--it is deleting this line of code. I
didn't use layers in the template so that is not the issue-I used tables. Why
would it look okay on my machine and server and then delete a line of code when
it is live? Help I'm going nuts.

your code is beeing hijacked by your add blocker (Norton?), because you
named your image "banner". Your add blocker thinks it's a banner add,
and blocks it.
Change the name and it should work.

THAT'S IT!! thank you thank you!!
My god, I spent the whole day trying to figure this out and you knew in 5
seconds.
Is there a list somewhere of "words not to call your images" so I won't do
this again?
Thank you SOOOO much

Norton shouldn't be sued. That's silly. The answer is simple -- do what I do
and don't use Norton. It's called "consumers choice."
(For the record, that's the least of the reasons I don't use Norton......)
