Where exactly are sites stored? DW MX 2004 |
| message from StepKna on 16 Jul 2004 |
drive has a new OS install so the current registry does not contain any info
about DWs sites anymore. However, all this should stil be present on the 2nd
drive, which we basically just took out, switched the jumpers around and put it
back in to copy salvageable data over. Unfortuantely, i cannot simply restore
the registry from a backup neither, as the old registry isn't "compatible" with
the new setup anymore...
From what i read on other posts, the sites definitions gotta somewhere on my
2nd drive in the registry. Now, where would i find those and how to i get them
from there to my "new" C: drive/registry? Unfortunately, i wasn't able to get
MM Exporter to find the stuff on the 2nd drive (maybe i am doing it wrong?), so
this was a dead end. Booting the old drive to use MM Exporter there is out of
question since that XP install on that drive has a major fit when it sees the
new hardware that got added as well...
Can omebody give me a hint how to get the sites back?
Thanks in advance!

Sometimes using brain before posting does help.. Heh.. to answer my own
question, they are stored in ntuser.dat -> software/macromedia/common/2004/sites
To get them copied over, i loaded ntuser.dat as hive with regedt32, exported
that branch to export.reg and removed the hive. Delete what was in
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Common\2004\sites and closed regedt32
Changed the export.reg file so it ends up putting the sites into
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Common\2004\sites when you import them.
Doubleclicked it and my sites are back and working.

Point MM-Exporter's Site Rescue (Menu Extras) to the NTUser.dat
from your old drive and your user.
E.G.: Username was StepKna, search the NTUser.dat in
"C:\Documents and Settings\StepKna\NTUSER.DAT"

J?rg,
thanks for the tip.. :) I finally did get it working. Once i saw your mail and
i gave it another try myself and i could have kicked myself . Does indeed work
like a charm.. Must have been blind when i tried it the first time with MM
Exporter... :-)
