Thanks Craig,
Someone else I've asked in the meantime has also suggested iframes so I've
tried that and it seems to be working quite well. I like it because it's
very simple code, I'm not familiar with databases and I've always found
layers to be a complicated, frames I could deal with but the iframes
solution seems quite tidy. I've set my iframe width to be "width=100%" so it
fills all the available width and that seems to be working (in my current
available browsers at least anyway.
Thanks for you help

Danielle,
you could....
use frames: each link opens a new page in a frame
use iframes: each iframe, set to 100% of its parent column width, shows a
new page
use layers: set to a percentage, should work with a bit of finessing
use divs: again set to percentages, use a 'change property' behaviour to
show hide 'em
use a database: one page can show many different records by search criteria
layers: use a 'set text of layer' type behaviour to read in a text file
(maybe)

I am setting up a website for the design company I work for which will
include a portfolio. My plan is to have a number of links in one column.
These links will be just text links "project 1" "project 2" project 3" etc.
When a viewer clicks on a link eg; project one, I want that to trigger a
swap image behaviour which will show the appropriate image and I'd like to
set it up to somehow swap some text that corrosponds to the particular
project and image.
I thought I could do this by using a show/hide layer function but to do
that I think I would need to build a static width site and I'd much prefer
to use a fluid width with column widths adjusting to the size of the
browser window.
Does anyone have any ideas for how I could do this? Lots of details or a
tutorial link would be great...
