Re: Sites gone. How can I restore??

~/Library/Application Support/ Macromedia/Common/2004/Sites

There should a file named "Site Prefs"

Drop your backup of that file into the same directory on your computer. With
DW not running, of course.

Glad I could help, Rich.

Having those defs in a separate text file makes so much more sense than
burying them in the registry, the way it's done on the PC side. When I was
using DW on the PC, I used to lose my site defs at least once a month, and I
got paranoid about backing them up regularly, which on a PC is a PITA
because you have to use a special third-party program to grab them from the
registry if you want to do them all at once. On the Mac side, your regular
old garden-variety daily backups, however you perform them, will backup your
site defs, so long as you include your Library folder in your backup
routine.

On the other hand, since I've been using DW2004 on my Mac, and don't have to
worry about backing up my site defs separately, I haven't lost them even
once. I guess text files are less corruptible than the registry. :)

And so what if it does....? I do regular backups, and I can just pull my
Site Prefs from yesterday's backup, like Rich just did. Actually, it would
make me smile and feel tingly all over because of the ease of restoring
them, compared to what I went through on the PC.

Life's weird when something like losing your site defs can make you smile.

LOL - yeah, I'll say!
