.SHT file extension was formerly common as a substitue for .SHTM or
.SHTML or .STML which are extensions used for files containing
INCLUDES of other HTML files. Similar to .HTM being used instead of
.HTML

Oh - thanks! I always used *.shtm and didn't even think of trucating it
further. How obvious! Thanks!

I think you may have extra <html>, <head>, or <body> tags in your include
files - is that possible? Failing the 'extra' part (i.e., the final
assembly of includes and parent page's code contains only a single, properly
terminated instance of each) do you have any of those tags in your include
files?
