Thank you very much for your help. Working with these big tables has been
amazingly slow and tedious but with patience it has always worked, until
today.......

Even DMX2004 (which is extremely good at opening/importing raw Word
documents) balks (but doesn't crash) at this file. I guess it's just too
complex, with 19 columns and however many rows.
I think the best solution would be to edit the page in Word, save to two (or
more) separate documents, bring each into a separate page, and then copy
and paste into one aggregate page.
