Re: Links in locked template areas not indexed

I have been through this thread again and I see that I am mistaken.

The links in question (I believe) are here -

Warfare and Flight Test</a> <span class="normaltext">|</span>
<a href="http://www.tsoit.com" Information
Technology (IT)</a> <span class="normaltext">|</span> <a
href="http://www.compusupport.com" Computer
Support and Help Desk</a> <span class="normaltext">|</span></p>
<p align="center">| <a href="#Top">Top</a> |<br>

So - I stand corrected.

Nevertheless, there is nothing in the markup on that page that would prevent
SE's from indexing those links. Template markup itself simply cannot
interfere with spidering or ranking. I suppose that the problem is that
GWeaver has not waited long enough for the pages to be properly spidered.

My sites rely heavily on template markup. I have never had a problem
getting them spidered.

The site has been up for quite awhile and has been spidered. My problem is
backwards links and not spidering. This is a message I sent to Google that
might help. What I am trying to say is complicated and hard to get across in an
e-mail. The problem may not be a Template problem as I originally thought but
it may be something that affects other Web sites.

To Google Support:

"How are backwards links determined? I have been to many sites and when I
select Backwards Links from the toolbar the backwards links to that page are
displayed. I have noticed that some pages that have text hyperlinks to a page
do not show up as backwards links. I also see this message sometimes:

"In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries
very similar to the 3 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included."

I understand this message. But the page, with the text hyperlink, I linked in
from still did not show on the list of backwards links when I clicked the link
to repeat the search.

Clicking on "Similar pages" under one of the listed pages usually brings up
the page I came from. Sometimes you have to try "Similar pages" under multiple
backwards links listings to find the page you came from but its almost always
in there some place.

Why are these pages not listed as backwards links? The content is different
and the linking page may or may not be on different Web sites? What constitutes
a Backwards Link? Why do some pages with text hyperlinks to a particular page
get listed as backwards links and others get listed as similar pages?"

Any help in clearing up my confusion is appreciated.

So, help me understand what your real question is. Is it "why do the search
engines not see my internal site links as backwards links?" or is it "why
are my pages not spidered?'?

Anyhow, I found this post that may contain relevant information for you -

That Google doesn't follow template markup?
