Re: taking a site down

Connect to the site. Expand Site manager. On the remote side of things,
create a new folder called "holding". Select everything in the root of the
site, except this folder, and drag and drop into the holding folder. It
may take a while for DW to return after doing this.

Now, browse to the site - you should get a file not found, or a page error
of some sort. Do you?

If you just rename the index.html file to page.html, then browsing to the
domain will give you the same error, but links (bookmarks to internal pages
will still work). The move method will eliminate that as a possibility.

When you are ready to bring the site back, just move everthing out of the
holding folder as you did above. You will not need to adjust any links.
