Sure - they're already on your computer and they're FREE!
Start > Run
...then type "charmap" (without the "") and hit "OK".
You'll see a popup window appear showing all the fonts currently installed on
your computer. For best results, I'd check out the Webdings and WIngdings
selections first as they tend to have the most exhaustive samplings of icons.
Roll your cursor over the small pics and where it says "Characters to Copy",
press the "Select" button. Then go into your image editor of choice (Fireworks
or Photoshop for example) and paste onto your canvas. What is great about this
technique is that although the font appears to be a "pic", it is actually a
font, so infinitely scalable - just like a vector image.
This technique has really helped me out tremendously and, based on the samples
you were looking for (directories, trash cans, etc...), you'll find everything
you need. You will not believe the selection you'll have to choose from.
