A lot of folks like to put their text as black on white. It's actually not
the idea way to display type online, but many people find it works (and, to
be fair, today's OSes do the same thing...I'm typing in an email client with
black text on white background).
I suppose the reason is that there's nothing 'lighter' than white so,
naturally, any page with a white background will need a darker header if it
is to be different than the rest of the page.
