Re: Dreamweaver MX 2005?

Neither do Adobe or a host of other major software manufacturers due to the
adverse effect on sales of current release products.

Plus, Microsoft discloses release dates about:
a) its various flavours of Windows and developer tools, which is a benefit
to them so that the application developers for those OS'es and tools can be
ready for the launch.
b) Office suite for which it has close to a monopoly

I'd say Macromedia's practices are industry standard.

And Microsoft never discloses firm release dates. They always say '3rd
quarter' at best. Usually it's more like 'late 2005'.

Companies can be sued by stockholders for failing to meet a published
release date. It's not worth the risk.

Well we all knew the release date of Windows XP (Oct 25, 2001).

and Office 2003 (Oct 21, 2003)

At the time of XP, I remember the atmosphere among resellers was like
waiting for the starter's gun to fire. And the reseller I purchased through
actually dispatched my order a day early in error :-)
