Pop Up Menus In DW Templates

message from CharlesNew on 19 Jul 2004
Hi,

I'm having a few problems getting some P7 drop down menus working in a DW
template. I've applied what I think is the neccesary code, but they dont close
when you roll off them. Anyone got any ideas?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Cheers

You have no "closer" layer". You need a layer underneath everthing that
manages the closing for you. Go back through the tutorials at PVII to see
how he uses them. You could also investigate PVII's AutoHide extension
which may also work well for you.

Have tweaked it to close the layers, but try searching - it still wont work (I
just moved the search box to a non-templated page) The search results page
still wont close the layers!

For some reason it justifies everything against the side of the page too, even
though there are 2 columns to stop it from doing that!

No - you still don't have a closer layer.

Look at the code. The only layers you have there are the content layers.

But why not post on the PVII forum. They can help you with this as well as
with the javascript error on the page.

I tried it with the show image command in DW, but soon learnt the error my
ways! It doesnt work nearly as well as this command does. And you can make it
look a lot better too. The only downside is the integration with templates, as
I'm discovering!

i have a menu made from the p7 tutorials nested in my main template page and it
works fine. it just takes a little playing around with, you'll get the hang of
it soon enough.

you can check out the one i built http://www.nesghelp.com/test-christoff
(although it's not 100% finished because i'm still trying to figure out how to
make the menu links into full cell links instead of just text...but i'll figure
that out eventually.

another thing....when i load your site, i get a runtime error, so there's
something in your code that isn't working correctly (sorry, i didn't write down
the error). another thing relating to your menus not closing when you roll off
of them....do you have the autohide extension applied to all the layers/tables
surrounding your menus? that might be the problem.

hope it helps,
christoff
