Not sure if this is the right place to post these questions, but hopefully
someone can answer a couple questions about purchasing DW MX 2004.
1. If I upgrade, will I need to download a different file for the upgrade
from MX versus the trial download version.
2. For an upgrade, does MX need to be installed on my computer, or do I just
need the serial number from MX.

No. You can just enter the serial number you will be given when you
purchase.
DMX does not need to be on the computer when you install the upgrade, I
don't believe, although you may be asked for the previous serial number.
