Nav Bar Question plus one

message from marywithani on 16 Jul 2004
OK - I am attempting to learn DW on my own and design a new website for work.
I have created a NavBar, then saved it as a library item and pulled it into a
template. I've got several pages and everything is working together. I've got
rollover/alt images for my navbar buttons. However, I'm wondering if someone
can help me - I want the rollover image to be what sticks when you click to get
to that subpage - If I've clicked on the Employment button on the nav bar, I
want that button to stay the alternate color so visitors always know what page
they're on. I thought it was great to have the navbar as a library item on my
template, but now it seems that I have to detach it from the item on each page
and change the appropriate image. Suggestions?

Also, (and I'm NOT an idiot!), I can't figure out why, when I put some text in
a layout cell, I can't use the Horz/Vert attributes. This only works for
images within a cell. What other control/tag, etc do I need to use to get my
text to scootch down a notch, or to be centered vertically in the cell? This
is driving me nuts!

Thanks

If you are using Templates, why are you using Library items?

Use Template optional regions to select the proper button state for each
button. Or make the buttons actually be background images for the links,
and use CSS to select which button state to show via the stylesheet.

If you assert you are not an idiot, you don't want to then admit you are
using Layout mode! 8)

Just don't use Layout mode. Work with your tables in standard mode and
you'll grow an inch overnight, or something like that.

CSS. It is perfect for this.
